Jewish members of the Literal Party in Quebec have accused officials of the organization of depriving the local Jewish community of any possibility of representation in the Provincial Legislature. The Jaws announced today that they will cast their votes in tomorrow’s elections for the Jewish candidate who is running on a Socialist ticket.

The issue grew out of the fact that the Liberal-controlled Legislature recently enlarged the St. Louis division of Montreal–traditionally represented “by a Jewish deputy–so that Jews are now electorally in the minority in this area. The Jewish members of the Liberal Party are also aroused over the party’s failure to nominate a Jew in the election.

Many of the incumbents who are running for re-election have “been campaigning on anti-immigration platforms and have sharply criticized Parliament for admitting to Canada 48,000 immigrants, including many PD’s, during the past year.
