Acting mediator Dr. Ralph Bunche today gave full support to the recommendations of the late mediator, Count Folke Bernadotte, for settling the Palestine problem by exchanging the Negev for Western Galilee, establishing Haifa and Lydda as free sea and air ports, respectively, and internationalizing Jerusalem.

In a broadcast from Rhodes, relayed by the U.N. headquarters here, Dr. Bunche said “I endorse those conclusions in their entirety and without qualification. I earnestly hope that the General Assembly will at an early stage in its deliberations take that decisive action which alone can assume that Count Bernadotte’s life and the lives of the five other gallant men who have fallen in Palestine in the service of the United Nations will not have been wasted.”
