Immediately after news of the conclusion of the Jerusalem cease-fire pact was received in Syria large-scale demonstrations broke out throughout Damascus, it was reported here today from Beirut, Lebanon. The demonstrations and processions, Led by thousands of students, were broken up by the police. (Reuters reported tonight that the Syrian Cabinet resigned after clashes between rioters and police, who used guns to disperse the demonstrators.)

It is believed that the outbreaks were touched off by inflammatory leaflets signed and distributed by a “Free Arab Association.” The throwaways, headed “How the Arabs Lost Palestine,” bitterly attacked the present leadership of the Arab forces. An uprising of Arab youth against the nation’s leadership is feared, the report said.
