Israel will overcome its trials because “we are able to count on, to an important degree, the support of the two great powers whose approach in so many other fields is today one of conflict,” Israeli Consul-General. Arthur Lourie last night told a gathering of more than 300 guests at a farewell reception tendered to Isaac Ben Zvi, president of the Jewish National Council, by the National Committee for Labor Israel on the eve of his return to Tel Aviv. Ben Zvi visited this country for two months in the interests of the $10,000,000 Histadruth campaign now being conducted by the Committee.

Paying tribute to Ben Zvi, Lourie said: “Dr. Ben Zvi returns to Israel at a time of renewed crisis in our affairs. He is no newcomer to moments of tension and difficulty. Today he goes back as a member of the Council of State of the Provisional Government of Israel, meeting on terms of equality and independence the problems with which the one-time Mandatory Power continues to confront us.”
