Domingo Mercante, Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, was also present at the interview, during which Shoskes thanked the President for his efforts in behalf of the legalization of the status of thousands of Jews who had been classified as illegal residents of the country. He also asked Peron for the admission of several hundred skilled Jewish workers and their families.
