LOS ANGELES (May. 15)
Three American Jewish youths who have just returned from the battlefields of Israel surrendered this week end to Los Angeles authorities to answer an indictment charging them with sending radio and airplane parts to the Jewish state during the war. The three are: Al Schwimmer of Bridgeport, Conn.; Leon Gardner of Los Angeles; and, William So snow of Brooklyn.
Ten leading Jewish organizations have issued a statement in behalf of the youths, pointing out that they are accused of aiding victims of aggression and that most of the youths named in the indictment are veterans of World War II. The groups are: the American Jewish Congress; B’nai B’rith; Hadassah; Jewish Labor Committee; Jewish War Veterans; Labor Zionist Organization; Mizrachi organization of America; Synagogue Council of America; United Zionist-Revisionists of America; and, Zionist Organization of America.
