New clashes have been occurring in Vienna between holders, of “Aryanized” property who tried to hold a meeting to denounce restitution laws which would force them to return such property to former owners. Jewish and non-Jewish former inmates of concentration camps demonstrated against the “Aryanizers” who declared that they had “saved the lives of many Jews” by “buying” their property and thus “enabling the Jews to emigrate.”
In one clash, three ex-Nazis suffered minor injuries, preventing the rally from being held. The same day the organization of former concentration camp inmates protested against amnesty legislation for former Nazis in Austria.
