The laws of Israel will be based on the principles of the “gathering in of the exiles” and “love thy neighbor as thyself,” Premier David Ben Gurion declared here today addressing the 13th annual conference of the Bar Association.

The Israeli Premier noted that the first principle was dictated by the new state’s interests as related to the growing population of the Jewish state, while the second principle was “inherent in Israel’s universal mission.”

Seven new agricultural settlements established last week in various parts of the country brought the total of new settlements since the proclamation of Israel a year ago to 58, the agricultural department of the Jewish Agency announced today

The cornerstone for a new housing project for immigrants was laid today at Naharia. The project, which is being built by Amidar, the national housing agency, and the Jewish Agency, will consist of 250 wood-and-concrete units.
