The American Zionist Council announced today that a presidium of four has been elected to succeed Dr. Abba Hillel Silver as chairman of the Council. The praesidium is composed of Benjamin G. Broway, of the Zionist Organization of America; Mrs. Judith Epstein, of Hadassah; Baruch Zuckerman, of the Labor Zionist Organization of America; and Rabbi Joseph H, Lookstein, of the Mizrachi Organization of America.
The praesidium will serve until September of the current year, at which time the permanent leadership of the Council will be chosen. Dr. Silver was elected honorary chairman “By a unanimous vote, and a resolution expressing the gratitude of the Council for “the eminent service rendered to the Zionist cause” by the distinguished Zionist leader was unanimously adopted by the Council. Dr. Silver has previously declined to be a candidate for the chairmanship during the next term.
