A resolution on the reorganization of the world Mizrachi movement, adopted today at the 49th annual convention of the Mizrachi Organization of America, calls for the establishment of an autonomous World Federation of General Mizrachi. The resolution, introduced by Rabbi Joseph H. Lookstein, noted that the present composition of Hapoel Hamizrachi and General Mizrachi within the world Mizrachi movement was unrealistic.

Hapoel Hamizrachi has its own autonomous world federation, he declared, and its present continued affiliation with the world organization has created an anomalous situation which on the one hand has permitted Hapoel Hamizrachi full autonomy to pursue unilateral action while on the other it gave it the right to restrict the action of the General Mizrachi. Rabbi Lookstein added that if the present situation were allowed to continue, it would cause damage to the general Mizrachi movement and hamper its growth outside Israel and limit its scope and influence in the Jewish state. The resolution is intended to serve as a guide to American Mizrachi delegates who will attend the world Mizrachi parley in Jerusalem in August.
