Clifford Hamilton, president of the Lake Beseck resort community near here, revealed today that a sign reading “For Christians Only” and posted at the summer colony will be removed this week despite the fact that residents of the community voted to keep it in place.
The placard was first put up in 1930, when the community was organized. Despite a 68-17 vote to keep the sign, Mr. Hamilton, who is opposed to it, said: “The sign will be down this week and I doubt if anyone will raise any fuss. The vote did not really represent the feeling of the community. I have talked to many residents who realize a sign like that has no place in our country.”
