The Joint Distribution Committee will assume responsibility for a relief and welfare program in Greece, Harold Goldfarb, J.D.C. director in this country, announced in a letter to the Central Board of Jewish Communities, which was made public today. As of Dec. 1, the J.D.C. will channel through the Central Board its cash gifts to Jewish communities and institutions in Greece, as well as to the tuberculosis relief program.

In his letter, Mr. Goldfarb pointed out that the funds to be given to the Central Board must be used only in accordance with a budget approved by the J.D.C. It is also stipulated that as of Jan. 1, 1950, the Jews of Greece will have to contribute to the tuberculosis program, at least to the extent of 20,000,000 drachmae monthly ($1,350) for the first quarter of 1950.
