Iran Extends De Facto Recognition to Israel, is Second Near East State to Do So

The Government of Iran has extended de facto recognition to Israel, it was officially announced here today.

Reza Safinia, Iranian Minister Plenipotentiary, who arrived here two months ago to lay the groundwork for recognition, will serve as Iran representative. Iran is the second Near East country to recognize the Jewish state. Turkey was the first.
