Great satisfaction was expressed here today by a spokesman of the Israel Foreign Ministry over the Soviet Union shift in position on the Jerusalem issue yesterday, when it informed the United Nations that it will no longer support the internationalization of the city.

The Israel official, at the same time, expressed astonishment over a statement yesterday in the British Parliament by Undersecretary Ernest Davies who declared that Israel has sufficient arms for internal security and defense purposes. “We are astonished at the fact that the British Foreign Office considers itself authorized to make statements of this nature,” he said.

The Israel official emphasized that the British Foreign Office has no authoritative information on the present armament position of the Jewish state. “The statement made by the British Government in Parliament yesterday stemmed from a wish to justify a certain policy line and not from any knowledge of facts,” the spokesman stated.
