Dr. Israel Goldstein, chairman of the World Jewish Congress’ Western Hemisphere Executive, today sent telegrams to High Commissioner John ?. McCloy and Secretary of State Dean Acheson expressing “deep appreciation” at Mr. McCloy’s recent policy declaration that “restitution in Germany will remain a reserved matter of the Allied powers.”
Dr. Goldstein pointed out that Mr. McCloy’s praiseworthy statement was fully in accord with the request made September 14 by the W.J.C. to the Foreign Ministors of the United States, Britain and France, then meeting in New York.
