More than 200 Jewish students attended a conference here for the purpose of establishing an Academic Committee of Jewish Youth to maintain contact with the Hebrew University, the Weizmann Institute and the Technion in Israel. The meeting was arranged by Dr. Salomon Tocker, representative of the American Committee of the University-Institute-Technion for Latin America.

A similar academic group was organized by Dr. Tocker in Rio de Janeiro at a meeting of 300 Jewish students addressed by him and by a number of professors from Brazilian universities as well as Israel delegates to the International Microbiological Congress.

Dr. Tocker came to Brazil to form a committee for the three institutions of higher learning in Israel. More than 800 people from all walks of Jewish life attended the Rio de Janeiro meeting at which such a committee was established. Messages from President Weizmann and from Professor Albert Einstein were read at the gathering.
