At the first meeting of the new Jerusalem municipality today Mayor S.Z. Shragai vigorously condemned the recent burning of cars by Orthodox Jews protesting the violation of the Sabbath by other Jews driving cars.

The Poale Mizrachi leader insisted that it is “intolerable that small groups take the law into their own hands.” He was supported by councillors representing the Mapam and Agudah.
