Over half of the Jewish children of school age in Canada receive no Jewish education, according to a preliminary report of a survey prepared by the research bureau of the Canadian Jewish Congress.
Throughout Canada, the report shows, 14,074 children of school age, of a total of 27,400 receive no Jewish education — or 51.4 percent. The breakdown of the statistics in the report shows that of the 27,400 total, 48.6 percent or 13,326 receive a Jewish education, attending either week-day afternoon classes (7,560 or 27.6 percent), all-day schools (3,486 or 12.7 percent), or Sunday schools (2,280 or 8.3 percent).
