An appeal to the governments of Europe to facilitate the work of the ORT organization and to extend it support was made here at the concluding session of the World ORT Union conference.

The conference stressed the need for intensifying the organization’s activities in Europe in order to “promote the rehabilitation through training of 800,000 Jews in Europe who are waiting to begin their lives again in countries where they are now resident or overseas.” The delegates heard a report that 50 percent of all applicants for enrollment in the ORT classes and courses were turned away owing to a lack of funds.
