Senate to Act on Bill Allowing Jewish Groups to Claim $3,000,000 from German Assets

A bill which would allow Jewish organizations to claim not more than $3,000,000 from German assets held by the United States may be passed by the Senate this month. The bill, drawn up on behalf of the victims of the Nazis and organizations which aid the victims, was reported out by the Senate judiciary Committee yesterday.

The bill was sponsored by Senators Robert Taft, of Ohio, and Herbert O’Connor, of Maryland. The same bill, however, was passed by the Senate during the last session of Congress and sent to the House which failed to pass it.
