Plans for extensive United Nations Day observances on October 24 by Jewish Community Centers and youth and young adult councils affiliated with the National Jewish Welfare Board were reported today to a White House meeting of President Truman with members of the National Citizens’ Committee on United Nations Day.
Philip Schiff, head of J.W.B.’s Washington office and a vice-chairman of the National Citizens Committee, submitted a report from Irving Edison, J.W.B. president, to the U.N. Day planning conference. Mr. Edison, who represented J.W.B. on the U.N.’s section on non-governmental agencies, described the variety of special U.N. Day programs and activities being scheduled by centers and youth councils throughout the country.
