U.S. Ambassador Monnet B. Davis called on Dr. Walter Eytan, director general of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, this morning. It is understood that he informed the Israelis of the view taken by the State Department on the five-point proposals for peace in the Middle East submitted to Israel and the Arab States by the U.N. Conciliation Commission on Palestine and sought to elicit Israel’s views. The proposals are to be considered by the Israeli cabinet this week.
(Reuven Shiloah, special advisor to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, arrived in Washington today for general discussions with the State Department which will include questions involving the current peace discussions being held in Paris.)
