Joshua Goldberg Named Navy Captain; First Rabbi to Win That Rank

Commander L. Goldberg yesterday became the first Jewish chaplain in U. S. Navy history to attain the rank of captain on active duty. He was promoted after serving ten years in the Navy as chaplain and will now be the Navy’s highest ranking Jewish clergyman. He also serves as special consultant to the Armed Forces Chaplain Board in Washington.
