High Wind Sweeps the Negev; Causes Damage; Naval Officer Killed

A 50-mile an hour wind swept the Negev cassing damage and the death of at least one person, it was announced here today. The fatality occurred when an Israeli naval craft going to the aid of fishing boats off Eilat, on the Gulf of Eilat, overturned. A naval officer was killed and one seaman was hurt.

Over 1,000 children participating in a Trumpeldor Day celebration at Tel Hai yesterday were drenched by the heavy rains and sought shelter in the Nebi Yosha police station and at nearby Kibbutz Malakiya. Early this morning the police commandeered buses to take the children to their homes.

Sandstorms in some sections and rainstorms accompanied by high winds kept inhabitants indoors in various parts of Israel today and interfered with the Purim feasts in many communities and settlements.
