Hias Appeals to Truman to Veto Mccarran Immigration Bill

The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society today sent a telegram to President Truman asking him to veto the McCarran Omnibus Immigration Bill when it reaches the White House. In the message, Ben Touster, president of the HIAS, pointed out that the leaders of HIAS deemed the McCarran Bill, “discriminatory, restrictive and contrary to the principles upon which our country was founded.”
