A number of delegates to the Republican National Convention participated in a “MacArthur for President” rally at the Congress Hotel which was addressed by Don Lohbeck, anti-Jewish editor of Gerald L.K. Smith’s hate sheet “The Cross and the Flag.”
Inciting remarks about “Christ-hating” elements in Washington were made by Mr. Lohbeck in the course of his speech. Envelopes containing Smith’s material were distributed at the rally, which was attended by about 500 people. Anti-Jewish matter was handed out openly in the lobby of the Conrad Hilton Hotel.
