The municipality of La Spezia has set aside a plot of ground for the erection of a memorial to commemorate Italian-Jewish friendship. La Spezia is the Italian port from which many visaless immigrants sailed clandestinely for Palestine at the end of World War II and before the State of Israel was proclaimed.
