President Eisenhower’s request for the emergency admission of 240,000 Europeans within the next two years may not be granted by Congress this session, nor is any revision of the McCarran-Walter Immigration Act expected, informed sources said today. A coalition of conservative Republicans and Southern Democrats was blamed by these sources for blocking any liberalization of immigration policy.
