Israel Ambassador Abba Eban has notified Mrs. Martha Taft, widow of the late Sen. Robert A. Taft, that he received instructions from Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett to convey to the Taft family “the deep sympathy of the Government of Israel on their bereavement.”
Mr. Sharett’s message said “Israel will always recall with gratitude the late Senator’s understanding and assistance.” David Goitein, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Israel, represented the State at memorial services for Sen. Taft at the U.S. Capitol Building.
