More than 4,000 delegates from all sections of the United States, Alaska and Puerto Rico will attend the opening here on Sunday of the four-day national convention of Hadassah. Prior to the formal convention opening, members of Hadassah’s national board and national service committee will meet privately at the White House with Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower on Saturday, and will present the First Lady with a gift from Israel and Hadassah.

The major issues facing the convention include the adoption of a $9, 000,000 budget to finance Hadassah’s medical and social welfare, youth rescue and rehabilitation, land redemption and vocational education programs in Israel, and the completion of a new $10,000,000 Medical Center in Jerusalem.

Among the scheduled speakers are U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson; U. S. Senator Alexander Wiley, of Wisconsin, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; Lt. Gen. William E. Riley, Deputy Director of the Foreign Operations Administration and former United Nations Truce Supervisor in Israel, and Israel Ambassador to the United States Abba S. Eban.
