The 33rd annual convention of the Mizrachi Organization of America concluded here today with the adoption of a $3,050,000 budget for 1954, which includes $1,000,000 for the Mizrachi-sponsored Bar-Ilan Univesity in Israel. Rabbi Mordecai Kirshblum was re-elected president of the organization.

Resolution adopted at the convention ask for the liberalization of existing immigration laws in the United States; emphasize that the problems of Israel and the Near East can be solved only by clarification of the position of the United States and the United Nations and not by “punitive” measures; hail the 3,000th anniversary of Jerusalem; and point out that “Israel without Jerusalem is an anomaly which neither Jewnor Christian can accept.”

The delegates also adopted a resolution strongly urging the Big Powes who signed the Tripartite Declaration of May, 1950, guaranteeing existing Arab-Israel borders to make “unmistakably clear” that the criticism presently directed by them against Israel is not to be construed as indication that they will tolerate “continuation, and extension of the Arab policy of marauding and violating Israel’s borders.”
