Delek, the Israel national fuel corporation, has reached an agreement with the Soviet Union for the purchase of 100,000 tons of Russian crude oil, the first shipments of which will begin to arrive in this country shortly, it was announced today by Dr. L Meron, director of Delek.

Earlier, Israel signed an agreement for the purchase of 150,000 tons of fuel oil, deliveries on which have been proceeding without a hitch, according to Dr. Meron. The oil company official also noted that shipments of Russian oil cost only one-half as much to transport as Venezuelan oil. The Soviet oil, for which Israel pays in citrus products, fills about one-fourth of Israel’s annual needs.
