There is a shortage of young women in the collective settlements of Israel, it was reported at Kinneret last night at a conference of kibbutzim affiliated with the Mapai Party. The report said that unless some 7,000 unmarried young men in the settlements find marriage partners they may desert kibbutz life.
A plan to absorb 1,000 new immigrant families from North Africa was outlined at the parley by Joseph Israeli, secretary of the kibbutz group. Settlements affiliated with the Mapai movement are already prepared to take the first group of the 1,000 new families.
