The Federation of Austrian Jewish Communities has appealed to Chancellor Julius Raab to press for an acceptable offer by the Austrian Government on a lump sum settlement of Jewish heir less property claims. The Austrian Government is expected to make a new offer shortly to the claims committee representing world Jewish organizations.

(Members of the Austrian Zionist delegation to the European Zionist Conference in Brussels expressed pessimism today over the outcome of the negotiations between the Jewish claims committee and the Austrian Government, The government, they said, was willing to aid Jewish victims of the Nazis who are now in Austria, but it would be a “miracle” if the government were to agree to aid any Jews now outside the country.)
