Launch Project for B’nai B’rith Forest in Israel

A project for a B’nai B’rith Memorial Forest as part of the Forest of Martyrs now being planted on Jewish National Fund soil in the mountains of Judea, was launched at a special luncheon here today by Philip M. Klutznick, president of B’nai B’rith, and Dr. Harris J. Levine, JNF president.

Mr. Klutznick said that the project was conceived as a memorial to European Jews who perished during the Hitler years, as a means of rendering material assistance to Israel, as a manifestation of B’nai B’rith’s continued interest in Israel’s welfare and as an “expression of the special position the soil of Israel holds in our hearts.” Dr. Levine hailed the plan “as a strong bond linking the vast membership of B’nai B’rith with the rebuilding program of Israel.”
