U.S. and Israel Notables to Honor Warburg As U. J. A. President

Paul G. Hoffman, former Administrator of Marshall Plan aid, will head the list of American and Israel notables who will address a testimonial dinner to Edward M.M. Warburg, president of the United Jewish Appeal, next Saturday evening at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, it was announced today by Jack D. Weller, chairman of the dinner committee and a national campaign chairman of the UJA.

The dinner tribute to the UJA president will hear also from Senator Herbert H. Lehman, who will act as toastmaster. Mr. Warburg, who helped to found the United Jewish Appeal 16 years ago this month and who is also the chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, will be cited for his general chairmanship of the UJA over the past four years and his role since 1939 in helping the UJA to raise close to $1,000,000,000 to aid victims of war and oppression.

Except for a three-year period of wartime military service, Mr. Warburg has served continuously in the top councils of both the national United Jewish Appeal and the UJA of Greater New York. He is also a member of the executive committee and the board of trustees of the Museum of Modern Art, a member of the board of governors of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and a trustee of the Institute of International Education.
