Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress, left by air for Geneva where he will lead the World Jewish Congress delegation at the non-governmental organizations conference on discrimination conducted by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The conference will meet from March 31 to April 4.

The WJC delegation will urge upon the conference the view that the time has come for a new start in dealing with the problem of human rights, and will draw attention to the damage which has been done to the concept of human rights as a result of the cold war, Dr. Goldmann said prior to his departure. The delegation will address a plea to the great powers to restore human rights to a central place in the United Nations activity and to provide greater opportunity to bring infractions of human rights to the attention of the UN.
