Egypt has a license to manufacture Vampire jet fighters, it was revealed in Parliament today by Minister of Supply R. Maulding, replying to questions by Barnett Janner, Labor M.P., president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and a Zionist leader. Mr. Maulding asserted, however, that the Egyptian license was granted by the British Government in 1945, but was never operative.

He also revealed that Switzerland, France, India, Italy and Australia also had been granted licenses to manufacture Vampires. When Mr. Janner asked whether arrangements had been made to assure that sales of Vampire planes by the licensees did not violate the intentions of the Tripartite Declaration of 1950, noting that there had been reports that Italy sold Vampire jets to Egypt, Mr. Maulding insisted that answering such questions were not in his province. Mr. Janner indicated he would raise the question again.
