World Personalities Awarded Honorary Degrees by Hebrew University

Two Americans were among seven world personalities awarded honorary doctorate degrees by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at ceremonies here yesterday. The American recipients are Prof. William F. Albright, professor of archaeology at John Hopkins, one of the world’s foremost Orientalists, and Dr. George S. Wise, former president of the American Friends of the University and now chairman of the board of governors of the school.

The other five honored today are: Premier David Ben Gurion of Israel; Prof. Jacques S. Hadamard, 91-year-old mathematician, educator and member of the French Academy of Sciences; Prof. Norman Bentwich, British political scientist; Lord Herbert Samuel, first British High Commission of Palestine, and Prof. Ben Zion Dinur, retired Israel Minister of Education.
