Israel will have an atomic reactor for research purposes by 1958, it was learned today from Dr. Israel Pelach, an electronic physicist who is conducting studies on behalf of Israel’s atomic energy program at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. The laboratory is a giant establishment working on the peaceful uses of atomic energy built by the United States Government in nearby Long Island.

Dr. Pelach discussed Israel’s atomic researches factory at Brookhaven when the laboratory was visited by 100 scientists from various countries attending the conference here drawing up plans for the new International Atomic Energy Agency. In the group was a well known Israeli chemist on the faculty of the Israel Institute of Technology at Haifa, Dr. Ephraim Lahav, who is the new Israel Embassy scientific counsellor. Another Israeli scientist at Brookhaven is Dr. Israel Dostrovsky, known for his work in heavy water and heavy oxygen.
