Efforts were being made here today to enlist the aid of the United Nations on behalf of the Jews in Egypt who are being persecuted and deported by the Cairo Government.

August Lindt, observer here for the Swiss Government, conferred with Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold today and it was understood that he discussed the situation of the Egyptian Jews with Mr. Hammarskjold. It was reported also that Selwyn Lloyd Britain’s Foreign Minister, who saw Mr. Hammarskjold yesterday, included the Egyptian Jewish matter in his discussion.
