Israel Ambassador Abba Eban this week-end discussed U.S. economic aid for the coming fiscal year with William Rountree, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. He declined to mention an estimate of the amount Israel might expect for the new year. Meir Sherman, Israeli economic expert, participated in the 45-minute meeting.
The Saudi Arabian Ambassador called on Mr. Rountree this week-end to complain against “Israeli fleet movements” in the Gulf of Akaba. The Ambassador alleged that Israeli naval vessels fired on the Saudi coast He gave Mr. Rountree the same report Saudi Arabia submitted last weak to the United Nations.
