The French Government is opposed to the inclusion of any Palestine Arab State in the United Arab Republic, a French Foreign Ministry spokesman stated here today. He noted that such opposition was part of a general policy rather than a decision against something which has not occurred. The spokesman expressed confidence that France’s allies would also oppose such a move by the Egyptian-Syrian federation.

Meanwhile Radio Paris broadcast a prediction that Gaza would be annexed into the UAR this week and that a “Palestine Arab Government” would claim jurisdiction over the territory designated for this state in 1947 under the UN partition plan.

Former French Premier Guy Mollet said in an interview today that his French Socialist Party expresses solidarity with the people of Israel in their fight for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. He expressed the hope that he could get away long enough to visit Israel during the tenth anniversary celebrations next month.
