Alexander Mukdoni, Noted Yiddish Literary Figure, Dies at 81

Dr. Alexander Mukdoni-Kappel, well-known Yiddish author, journalist and critic, died here today while visiting a son. He was 81. Funeral services will beheld In New York tomorrow.

Dr. Mukdoni, who was born in a small town near Minsk, Russia, and received his degree of doctor of philosophy in Switzerland after earlier studies at a Yeshivh in Russia, became a prominent Yiddish literary figure in Russia, Germany and Poland. He came to this country in 1924, and contributed to many Yiddish journals and other literary publications here. He was an authority on the theatre. In recent years, while contributing to the Day-Jewish-Morning Journal, he had been making his home in Florida.
