Miss Margaret Meagher, Canada’s new Ambassador to Israel, presented her credentials today to President Itzhak Ben Zvi. Miss Meagher, Canada’s first woman to achieve Ambassadorial rank, is also the first woman Ambassador accredited to Israel.
The Canadian Ambassador was introduced to the President by Mrs. Golda Meir, Foreign Minister. Further emphasizing the historical feminine aspect of the ceremony was a guard of honor consisting of women soldiers of Israel’s army drawn up at attention in the audience chamber.
