“As Americans and as fellow human beings we share a common brotherhood,” President Eisenhower declared today in accepting the honorary chairmanship of Brotherhood Week which will be observed next February 21-28 under the sponsorship of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Announcement of the President’s leadership was made today by Cornelia Otis Skinner, actress and author, who is serving as national chairman of Brotherhood Week.

The brotherhood shared by all Americans, the President said, “provides the basis for a strong and productive national life.” This spirit in our land and around the world, he added, “can advance the highest hopes of the family of man.” The celebration next February marks the 27th observance of Brotherhood Week, first established in 1934.
