Sol Satinsky Elected President of the Jewish Publication Society

Sol Satinsky, noted American Jewish leader, was elected president of the Jewish Publication Society of America at its 72nd annual meeting, it was announced here today. The meeting was attended by officers of the Society coming from all parts of the country. Mr. Satinsky is active in the leadership of various major national Jewish organizations and in local institutions.

A report of the JPS for the past year presented at the meeting showed an increase of nine percent in membership enrollment and 12 percent in book distribution over the preceding year. The latter included 47,000 Bibles and more than 105,000 other books, Myer Feinstein, treasurer, reported that the Society’s income in 1959 was $383,000 as compared with $332,000 in 1958. Judge Louis E. Levinthal, chairman of the publication committee, reported that nine new books and six paperback reprints were published during 1959.
