Field Marshal Ayub Khan, President of Pakistan, declared here yesterday that “Israel has come to stay.”
The affirmation of Israel’s status as a de facto state was made by the leader of the Moslem country at a luncheon tendered him by military correspondents here. Pakistan has always supported the Arab states in their negative views regarding Israel.
The Pakistan leader declined, however to comment on the current situation in the Middle East in general or, specifically, on the United Arab Republic’s blockade of the Suez Canal against Israeli shipping and goods.
