Isaac Altabev, a Jewish member of Parliament and a member of the Democratic party of Adnan Menderes who was ousted by a military coup last May, was arrested here. Along with 400 other Democratic deputies, he will be tried on charges of violating the Constitution by voting in favor of Menders’ “undemocratic proposals.”

Mr. Altabev was taken to a military hospital as he was found ill. He is expected to be sent, like all other arrested deputies to Yassiada, an island near Istanbul, where the trials will be held. The other Jewish deputy, Joseph Salmona was arrested and sent to Yassiada last month.
