Rabbi Israel Levinthal, spiritual leader of the Brooklyn Jewish Center, was honored by the Jewish National Fund with a testimonial dinner given him on the occasion of completing 50 years in the rabbinate. Some 2, 000 guests heard Rabbi Levinthal declare that an Arab-Israel peace “can be brought about only by strengthening the economy of Israel.”

He was presented with an illuminated edition of the Jerusalem Bible by Mendel N. Fisher, executive director of the JNF of America, who announced that a Foresters’ Village to be built in the American-Israel Freedom Forest near Jerusalem would be named for Rabbi Levinthal.
